Nizwa is the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2015

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation announced on 10/1/2010 that Nizwa will be the capital of Islamic Culture in 2015. Citizens of Nizwa are happy and a proud  of this news .The Wali of Nizwa,   AL Shaik Saif bin Hamir AL Malik AL Shahi share his happiness with citizens about choosing Nizwa as a represented of Oman and the Islamic countries. He indicates to the high status of Nizwa from the past as it was the capital of Oman and a lot of scientists and writers graduate from Nizwa. They played a great role in transferring the Islam and knowledge in different countries of the world.
Nizwa from the past was called "Baydat AL Islam" because many of scientists are from Nizwa. They studied and graduated from Nizwa like AL Imam Jabber bin Zayd who was born in Farq in Nizwa. Also, AL Bashir AL Nizwani who play a role in transferring knowledge from AL Basra in Iraq to Oman and a lot of other scientists who wrote lots of books in Islamic culture and other subjects. For that Nizwa from the past was the capital of knowledge and sciences in Oman.
In addition, Nizwa has a lot of old and Islamic buildings like forts, castles and Masjad. These buildings present the deep history of Nizwa in the Islamic Culture. Also, it show the role of Nizwa in transferring Islam in the region by ware with others like Portuguese and by studying Quran in these buildings.  
  
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos called Nizwa "The City of History and Sciences". He gives Nizwa his interest to maintain the heritage and culture in Nizwa. In addition, Omani government decided to build the first Islamic bank in Oman in Nizwa. So, we can see that everything related to Islam is started from Nizwa. For that they choose Nizwa as the capital of Islamic Culture in 2015. The Ministry of Heritage and Culture prepare to do activities to highlight Nizwa and its status. Also, to ensure that the event, will be successful in Nizwa in 2015. All Omanis are a proud about this event and about Nizwa.

  2. Good work Amaal. This is a good step to introduce Nizwa for people . I am proud of being a citizen from Nizwa. Our duty is to drew a beautiful picture for it. Being chosen as the capital of Islamic culture presents its greatness and high position among other cities. This is the beginning and I'm pretty sure that Nizwa will preserve its remarkable heritage and Islamic culture.
